AMBOY - Richard E. McLindsay, 82, of Amboy, died Dec. 28, 2018 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 4 at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home, Amboy with Rev. Dave Schweppe officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service on Friday at the funeral home.

Richard was born May 26, 1936 in May Township, Lee County, to James and Goldie (Groth) McLindsay. He married Mary Ellen Smith in Amboy on Feb. 23, 1957. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2005.

Richard was employed as a cement mason for D.R. Gilbert and Sons in Rochelle for 30 years. He also worked for Ron Rose Construction in Mendota for 10 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and playing his guitar, and also riding his motorcycle later in his life. He took pride in caring for his property.

Survivors include four children, Vicki (Tom) Kessel of Bedias, Texas, Brian (Cathy) McLindsay of The Woodlands, Texas, Connie (Duane) Dickison of Amboy and Wendy (Joel) Wolman of Elkhorn, Wis.; 10 grandchildren, Tabatha (David) Mize, Brian (Karla) Moore, Ryan (Tara) Kessel, Dr. Sara Kessel, Logan McLindsay, Hunter McLindsay, Abraham (Hannah) Dickison, Whitney (Joel) Brakken, Liz Wolman and Emma Wolman; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; one brother, James McLindsay; and one sister, Doris Ketchum.
