MENDOTA - Richard D. Scott, 69, of Mendota passed away Oct. 30, 2017 at the Mendota Lutheran Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Rev. John Kalebough officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota with military rites by Mendota VFW Post 4079. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Richard was born Sept. 27, 1948 in Mendota to Edward and Wilma (Schmidt) Scott. He married Louise Kalebough Nov. 1, 1969 in Vista, Calif. She preceded him in death in 2011.

Survivors include his fiancée, Gwen Eudy; two sons, Matthew (Patti) Scott of Decatur and Richard Scott, Jr. of Mendota; one daughter, Melissa Mumm of Mendota; four brothers, John (Beth) Scott of Gratiot, Wis., Paul Scott and Michael (Kay) Scott, both of Mendota, and Edward (Andi) Scott of West Brooklyn; two sisters, Susan Scott of Princeton and Amy Husband of Rockford; five grandchildren, Morgan Mumm, Brett Mumm and Abby Mumm, Ayden Scott and Anna Grace Day-Scott; several cousins; and his beloved golden lab, Bella. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Marsha and Wanda, and one brother, Steve.

Richard served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was employed as a grain hauler by Kevin Newell. He was a member of Mendota Elks Lodge 1212. He enjoyed doing carpentry work and loved working in the yard and around the house and planting flowers.
