Residents voice concerns over unsightly yards

Posted

PAW PAW – The Village of Paw Paw held a meeting on Oct. 9.

Various residents presented concerns over unsightly refuse visible in people’s front yards.

Concerns were also raised on trucks using Forest Lane, possibly not knowing it is a dead end. This is causing damage to driveways, as they have to back-up onto, or cut across them to get out. The blacktop is not well-packed down, is loose, and thrown onto the lawns. A “No Outlet” sign was requested to be put at the entrance to Brookside Lane.

Lee County Sheriff’s Deputy Heller will be issuing second violation citations to residents not in compliance with parking placement or yard maintenance, after which fines will be levied.

The water in the parks has been turned off for the winter, and pipes drained.

Residents are reminded to not blow cut grass onto the street, as it clogs the sewers and can cause flooding.

Lee County Health Department will be at the Community Center on Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 9-11 a.m. to administer flu shots. Cost is $30 for adults, $12 for children under 18. Covered by most insurances, including Medicare and Medicaid. No appointment is necessary. For more information, call (815) 284-3371.

Trick-or-Treat hours have been established as 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31.

A representative from the Census Bureau will be at the Community Center on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m., to give information on what the census questionnaire will entail, and to answer any questions. It is important for each resident to be counted, as that effects government funding for the area.

The police contract for a Lee County Sheriff Deputy to be on duty in Paw Paw forty hours a week has been renewed for five years.
