MENDOTA - The Relay For Life event this weekend at Lake Mendota is in need of some community volunteers to assist with some parts of event setup and take-down. Volunteers are asked to simply "suit up and show up" at any of the opportunities listed below; however, questions may be emailed to rfluiv@gmail.com or messaged to Facebook user "March TO A Million."
Help is needed as follows:
Saturday, July 13 at 8 a.m. at the far west soccer field / baseball diamond area of Lake Mendota. This will include professionally-supervised layout of the event’s electrical supply cables and distribution boxes, followed by some basic moving of tables and chairs, and ending with putting up the large event tent.
Sunday, July 14 immediately following the event closing (around 6:30 a.m.), also at the far west baseball diamond/soccer fields area of Lake Mendota Park. Many hands are needed to clean up the event, load tables and chairs, etc. The leadership team of the event will have been awake for at least 24 hours at this point, so fresh help is appreciated for a speedy cleanup.
Sunday, July 14 at 6 p.m., also at the far west diamond/soccer fields area of Lake Mendota Park. Help is needed to take down the large event tent. The 6 p.m. time was chosen both to allow the tent to completely dry before storage and to leave the afternoon free in support of the Michael Heiting cancer benefit from 1 to 6 p.m. that same day.
