Princeton, Orion down Lady Trojans

Deuces were wild for Princeton as it scored two runs in five different innings to down Mendota, 10-5, in varsity softball action on April 26 at the MHS field.
Princeton scored two runs in the first, third, fourth, fifth and sixth frames. Mendota had single tallies in the second and third innings before pushing across three runs in the bottom of the seventh.
The visitors outhit Mendota, 12-8. Ava Eddy had a pair of singles for the Lady Trojans, while Katie Jenner doubled. Paige Manning and Zoe Finley both drove in a pair of runs for Mendota.
Manning was tagged with the loss. She pitched six innings and allowed 10 hits and five earned runs. She walked two and struck out five.

A late rally came up short for Mendota in an 8-5 setback to Orion on April 30 at the MHS field.
Orion scored in each of the first four innings and held a 7-0 lead before the Lady Trojans got on the board with two runs in the bottom. Mendota added one in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Finley had two singles for the Lady Trojans among the team’s seven safeties. Manning had a triple, while Jenner and Gracie Zinke both doubled.
Ryleigh Sondgeroth started in the circle and was relieved by Manning in the fourth. Orion totaled 10 hits. Sondgeroth allowed nine hits, four earned runs, walked one and struck out two. Manning permitted a hit and an unearned run in three-plus innings.
