Princeton, L-P claim Gooden Lite crowns

MENDOTA – The Mendota boys’ and girls’ track teams hosted five other schools for the Don Gooden Lite Invitational on April 29 at the MHS track.

Princeton captured the boys’ team title with 152.5 points. Mendota was sixth with 39 points.

The girls’ team championship went to LaSalle-Peru with 167 points. The Lady Trojans finished sixth with 32 points.

The best finish on the day for the Trojans went to Anthony Kelson, who raced to a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 19.66. Mendota also had a third-place finish by the 4x800 meter relay team. The foursome comprised of Kody Chase, Jacob Carr, Mason Koch and Kelson ran a time of 10:05.29.

Mendota’s girls had a pair of third-place finishes. Alexis Finley took third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:57.53, while the 4x400 meter relay squad was third in 5:27.97. Runners were Natalie Bodmer, Finley, Grace Wasmer and Dessa Komitas.
