PLANO – Mendota had trouble getting its offense in gear and the Lady Trojans dropped a 3-1 contest to Plano in varsity girls’ softball action on March 23 at Plano.
Plano broke a scoreless tie with a run in the fourth and then Mendota tied the game in the top of the sixth. Alex Barrera stroked a two-out single, stole second and raced home on a single by Rylee Klema.
But Plano scored twice in the bottom of the sixth on three hits and an error, and the Lady Trojans were retired in order in the top of the seventh.
Klema had two of Mendota’s three hits. She took the loss in the circle, giving up just four hits and striking out eight.
