PERU – Retired midwife Mary Bradish is one of the pioneers in the practice of midwifery in Illinois. She is believed to have been the first midwife in the state to deliver babies south of Interstate 80 when in 1976 she joined the medical practice of Peru obstetrician/gynecologist William Farley, MD.
Bradish retired in 2005 and her just-published book, “Breathe, Breathe, Push” details her interesting career as a midwife during which she delivered more than 4,000 babies. On Friday, June 30, Bradish will sign copies of her new book from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Illinois Valley Community Hospital Café in Peru.
The book is available for purchase in the IVCH Lobby Shoppe.
