Peoria Irish Fest planned for August

PEORIA - The Peoria Irish Fest – Erin Feis organizers have confirmed their cultural festival will definitely take place Aug. 27-29 in Peoria’s Riverfront Park.

“We’ve been working full steam ahead all year, hoping that circumstances would evolve to let us proceed,” said event co‐chair John Martin. “We’re all excited, relieved, and thankful to be able to present a full fest for our guests’ enjoyment.”

The Peoria Irish Fest is the largest Illinois Celtic festival outside of Chicago. Tickets at the door cost $13, with a three‐day Event Pass for $30. Discounted tickets are available online now, and kids under 12 are free.

Organizers said one major change had to be made this year. Bands who reside in Ireland, Scotland or anywhere outside the U.S. are unable to tour here at this time. So, U.S.‐based bands, both international and American groups will perform. Performers include Scythian, The Gothard Sisters, Eileen Ivers, Adam & Jon, Jig Jam, The Byrne Brothers, members of Lunasa, and Bohola.

With more than 40 performances on multiple stages, the Peoria Irish Fest has something for everyone. Fantastic shopping opportunities, a Cultural Village full of exhibits, delicious food and beverages, and kids’ activities.

An axe‐throwing station will make fierce Celtic warriors of guests Friday and Saturday. Members of the public can try their hand at the Highland Games on Saturday, while the athletes compete against each other on Sunday.
