Paw Paw Village Board hears from internet company reps

PAW PAW – Representatives of Rise Broadband have presented information for a faster, more reliable Internet Broadband, now available to the surrounding area through a grant provided by the government’s “Affordable Connectivity Program.” Subsidized funding is provided by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Rise Broadband uses a fiber-optic underground cable system. Residents may write a letter or email to the company to explain why they need better services. This correspondence may be emailed or dropped off at the Village Clerk’s office, [email protected] , and will be forwarded to Rise Broadband. Letters must be submitted by Oct. 28.

Amanda Moorehead and Aubrey Marks are heading the new Community Club, titled “Tribe 61353.” They intend to serve and celebrate the businesses and residents of Paw Paw while honoring the Village’s roots. Similar to the former Chamber of Commerce, they will sponsor various events and activities throughout the year for our area.

November 5 will be the craft show, now known as “The Paw Paw Holiday Market.”  They are looking for vendors with a variety of homemade items, crafts, baked goods and products. December 10 they will be sponsoring the annual Christmas Walk, with Santa visiting at 4.

Questions, contact Amanda at [email protected] or 619-339-6747. For more information, check out their Facebook posts at TRIBE61353.

Trunk-Or-Treat will be Sunday, Oct. 30 from 3-5 p.m. at the Methodist Church. During “trunk or treat,” adults decorate the back of their cars for Halloween, and load up on candy for kids to "trick or treat" from car-to-car. Come sit in the Methodist parking lot.  It’s a good opportunity for parents and kids out in the country to have fun trick-or-treating in town too. Families get to see all the cute and scary costumes of their neighbors.

Village Halloween trick-or-treat hours will be Monday, Oct. 31, 4-7 p.m.

LaSalle County Health Department will be at the Community Center on Wednesday, Oct. 19 from 9-11 a.m. for administration of the flu vaccine. For questions, call 815-284-3371 ext. 2100.

A structural inspector has examined the inside and outside of the old bank, 311 Chicago Road. He will submit a report to the Village Board.

A new pick-up truck has been purchased by the Village to replace the old one.
