Paw Paw Schools set open house dates

PAW PAW – Five interested taxpayers attended the June school board meeting on June 17.

The meeting was opened with an amended budget hearing, with no questions or concerns the hearing was closed and the amended budget was approved.

The 3-year contract with the mobile app provider Tappit Cashless Payments is in the final year, and the Board will not renew due to low usage.

PTO President Nicole Faber announced they have $5,000 to apply towards installing scoreboards donated by Indian Creek. She inquired of the Board whether they would like to keep the hardwiring, or, for a greater cost, convert one of the scoreboards to wireless.

TRANE building management systems has submitted a revised scope for the repair of the elementary roof along with the installation of solar panels, upgraded lighting system in the elementary wing, and will assume and upgrade the current monitoring system to a Trane Platform.

An updated schedule was presented for approval for the Jr. High, which includes a quarterly rotation of Ag, Art, Computers, and STEM for 5th-8th grades.

There will be two Open Houses for parents:

*Aug. 14 from 5-6 p.m. is Open House/ Supplies Drop Off Night, for parents before school begins.

*Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. is Curriculum Night. Parents are invited to come and receive a syllabus for plans for the school year.

The fuel bid by Conserv FS of DeKalb has been accepted.

Bimbo Bakeries was selected to provide our bread needs.

Dairy products will be provided by Muller-Pinehurst Dairy.

A report was completed on the IC Sports co-op for the 2018-2019 school year, which included more opportunities for Paw Paw students and many Paw Paw athletes received recognition for team awards: Academic All-Conference, and All Conference.

Some of the trees on school property will be trimmed; none need to be removed at this time.

Bob Nolte will repair the school sidewalks and driveways.
