PAW PAW - A report on the deactivation study was presented by Jason Klein, a P-20 specialist at NIU, during the Feb. 15 Paw Paw School Board meeting. A survey seeking input is available for high school students and parents. This survey is organized through NIU and provides feedback related to Indian Creek. This is the second time this survey has been administered, the last was done two years ago.

Klein presented information about adding a parent and student focus group to this year’s current study and the board approved that addition. He also presented a second possible study that would follow eighth graders into their high school years and get feedback about their high school experiences. The board will consider and discuss this topic further at future board meetings.
There will be an open house for kindergarten registration on March 1 from 5-6:30 p.m. Future kindergarteners and their families will meet the teacher and get a tour of the classroom.
The yearly Strategic Plan Survey asks for input in various areas of school operations. Feedback will be used to help guide the Strategic Planning Process for the Paw Paw School District and to assist in planning and providing the highest quality services for our students.

The annual 5Essentials Survey organized through the Illinois State Board of Education will be sent out Feb. 28. These surveys each provide important pieces of information for the school district.

The District has received a maintenance grant from the State for $50,000 toward the overhang/lead paint mitigation project and for asphalt repair.
The Paw Paw Board of Education will hold a Community Open Forum on March 8 at 7 p.m.
Praise was given for the Boy’s and Girl’s Club After School Program. Families are welcome to access the before school program at 7 a.m. and after school from 3-5:30 p.m.
