PAW PAW – A Paw Paw School board regular monthly meeting was held Feb. 13. Senior class representatives Riley Oros and Marcus Hadley presented the proposed itinerary for the senior class trip in March. The class would take a school bus to Pigeon Forge, Tenn, departing Paw Paw on Friday March, 22 and returning Tuesday, March 26. They hope to go river rafting, see Gatlinburg, and Dollywood. They will be accompanied by three chaperones. The Board approved the trip.
Nicole Faber informed the Board that the PTO is hosting a Trivia Night in May.
The PTO suggested that proceeds from the evening could be used for replacing the school water fountains, replacing the aging scoreboard, and/or possibly replacing trees on school grounds that had to be removed last fall.
The Board discussed how to best disperse the class activity funds for the freshman, sophomore and junior classes who will be attending Indian Creek next school year.
What to do to ensure the school buses are available and reliable during inclement weather was brought up. A few ideas were generated, the feasibility of which are to be investigated.
The possibility of implementing e-learning on days school must be closed due to weather was brought up. With e-learning, students would log on to their computers at home and have instruction from their teacher, receiving credit for remote learning.
Various usage of the high school and middle school classrooms for the coming school year were discussed.
Due to school closings this winter because of inclement weather, the last full day of student attendance will be June 3, with ½ day on June 4, and Teacher Institute on June 5.
High school graduation will be on Friday, May 24, and eighth grade promotion will be Thursday, May 30.
