Paw Paw Board hears about high-speed internet

PAW PAW – The Paw Paw Village Board met in regular session on April 13.

It was announced that the annual town-wide garage sales will be Saturday, April 23 and Sunday, April 24.

Michael Marty, of Rise Broadband, presented information on his company bringing underground fiber-optic high-speed broadband service to Paw Paw. The Board will research his proposal further, and discuss it in the next months. If approved, installation would start in 2023.

A Brookside resident called to the Board’s attention the uneven surface of last Fall’s tar-and-chip work on their street. This caused rocks being plowed into people’s grass, and difficulty walking/driving down the street.

The garbage rate increase has gone into effect – now $32.57 every-two-months.

The Board is considering installing a new roof on the Lions Park restroom building. It is looking into the benefits and cost of a steel roof.

Sidewalk replacement will begin when the weather is amenable.

The Paw Paw Library’s Summer Reading Program will start June 14, with a kick-off event June 17. This summer’s theme is from the iREAD program called "Read Beyond the Beaten Path.”
