SUBLETTE – James Paschall of Sublette will ride 103 miles in the Starved Rock Cycling Association's 29th Annual Pumpkin Pie Ride on Oct. 7 to raise funds for Wounded Warrior Project.
Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is a non-profit and veterans service organization that offers a variety of programs, services and events for wounded veterans of the military actions following Sept. 11, 2001.
Paschall served in the United States Navy in the Submarine Service from 2006-2011. "I think [Wounded Warrior Project] is important. There are a lot of people making sacrifices I didn't have to make," he said.
Although Paschall has never participated in an organized bike ride, he purchased a new bike and has been riding as much as possible. The ride offers shorter routes, but Paschall plans to push himself to complete the longest ride – 103 miles. The reward at the end will be a slice of pumpkin pie and knowing that he rode for a good cause.
