MENDOTA - OSF Saint Paul Medical Center honored their volunteers during a breakfast held at the Mendota Civic Center on April 18. The event was part of National Volunteer Week celebration.

In-House, Gift Shop and Pet Therapy volunteers and Meals on Wheels drivers were all recognized. Speakers included Kim Kennedy, In-House Volunteer Coordinator; Brenda Grobe, Auxiliary Gift Shop Coordinator and Molly Pyszka, Meals on Wheels Coordinator, all of whom acknowledged the value that each volunteer brings to the hospital and those that are served.

Pyszka informed the group that over 5,000 meals were provided to Mendota residents by 45 volunteer drivers. Brenda Grobe said she was grateful for her 43 volunteers and especially appreciative of the 13 new volunteers who assisted in being able to expand the Gift Shop hours. Because of these dedicated volunteers, the Auxiliary Gift Shop is now open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

A pin and a certificate was presented by Kennedy to weekly in-house volunteers, Ida Bergmark-25 years, Rita Weber-20 years and Shirley Pierson- five years.

Anyone interested in volunteering or receiving meals, please call the hospital at (815) 539-7461 and speak to the operator.
