Visitors and residents will be able to stroll the streets of Ottawa as art galleries take over shops, musicians line the streets and film and drama performances play from morning to night.
The judges for the festival will include local residents Dori Thompson of Mendota and Tim Trumbo of Ottawa. The lead judge will be Rolf Achilles of the Art Institute of Chicago. The public will also be able to cast their vote for the works of art during the event.
The festival will run from noon to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8; and 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Sept. 9. An awards ceremony will take place at noon on Sunday at the Woolworth Building with $35,000 in cash prizes and recognition awarded to the winning artists.
In addition to the festival, Ottawa is home to nine large murals that grace downtown buildings as well as Washington Square Park, which showcases the Lincoln Douglas Statues in honor of the first Lincoln Douglas debate in the 1850s.
