OTTAWA – The Omicron Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met Oct. 17 at Pitstick Pavilion in Ottawa.
The program for the evening was presented by Laurie Misener Stone of Three Wells Acupuncture Clinic in Morris. Stone is a licensed acupuncturist and board-certified herbalist. She led the group in several acupressure techniques designed to reduce stress. She also suggested several uses for essential oils. Her goal is to support health through non-drug solutions. Stone is the daughter of Omicron member Patricia Misener of Morris.
The Lambda State Creative Arts Retreat held earlier in the month was discussed by several members that attended. Also displayed were many of the crafts created during the weekend retreat. Member Teresa Cameron presented one of the workshops.
Members were reminded about the creative writing contest open to all eighth graders in Grundy, LaSalle, and Putnam Counties. Entries should be submitted to her no later than Feb. 16, 2018. They were also asked to encourage young ladies who have junior standing in college and are studying to be teachers to apply for Omicron’s $1,000 grant-in-aid.
It was also announced that Omicron member Stephanie Benson was elected vice president of the Illinois Reading Council.
The next meeting will be held on Nov. 21 at Pitstick Pavilion. The program will be Food Pantries presented by Omicron members Jan Kaufman and Mary Sue Myers.
