COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Olive Rose Engle, 98, of Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of Mendota, died Nov. 23, 2018 at home.

Olive was born Dec. 8, 1919 to Albert and Esther (Way) Sack in Butler County, Neb. She married Harvey Engle in 1942. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include four children, Janet Burns of Colorado Springs, Dale Engle of Des Moines, Iowa, Jean Rice of Colorado Springs and Duane Engle of St. Paul, Minn.; one brother, Ellery Sack; one son-in-law, Ron Fischer of Tonganoxie, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Joyce Fischer; and one sister, Marjorie Cordes.

Olive graduated from Surprise NE High School in 1938 and married Harvey Engle in 1942. For many years they operated a successful Dean’s Milk distributorship in Illinois and a motel in Iowa. Olive lived in Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois and Arizona before moving to Colorado. She traveled often, primarily to visit family and was particularly fond of a good game of Euchre. She was a regular at family events and her grandchildren’s extracurricular activities. Despite her large family, she never forgot a birthday.

Memorial gifts may be made to Pike’s Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs.
