MENDOTA – Allen and Virginia (Hansen) Novak of Mendota will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on Dec. 23 with an intimate dinner planned for them by their children, Michael (Nancy) Novak of Richmond, Va.; Janelle (George) Garcia of Mendota; Deanna (Bernie) Donnelly of DeKalb; and Dawn Jaques of Cortland. The couple have 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Allen is retired from Del Monte and Virginia is retired from nursing. They are the owners of Feathered Friends, a homemade jam, jelly and condiment company.
The couple were wed on Dec. 23, 1967 at United Methodist Church in Ruthven, Iowa. They were attended by Juliane Lindsey, matron of honor, and Steve Kulik, best man.
Following their dinner at Verucchi’s Ristorante in Spring Valley, the couple will be treated to a chauffeured limousine ride to view the holiday lights in and around LaSalle, highlighted by a tour of Rotary Park.
