POPLAR GROVE – North Boone posted a 4-2 triumph over Mendota in Big Northern Conference varsity baseball action on May 6 at Poplar Grove.
Mendota took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but North Boone quickly tied the game in the bottom of the frame. The Vikings put two runs on the board in the third to take the lead for good. The Trojans’ only other tally came in the sixth.
Joel Escatel (single, double) had two of Mendota’s four hits. Gavin Glazebrook and Alex Figueroa drove in the team’s runs.
Glazebrook pitched all six innings and suffered the loss. He allowed 10 hits, walked one and struck out three.
The Trojans slipped to 3-21 overall and 2-15 in league games.
