BIGGS, Calif. - Norma Elaine (Fouth) Sondgeroth, 81, of Sublette, died peacefully June 25, 2018 surrounded by her family in Biggs, Calif.

Ramsey Funeral Home in Orville, Calif. performed cremation rights. She will be returned to her final resting place with her husband at Holy Cross Cemetery in Mendota. Per her wishes, a small celebration of life service will be held in Mendota at a later date.

Norma was born Oct. 5, 1936 in Peru to Arthur and Rose (Haun) Fouth of Arlington. She married Eugene George Sondgeroth on Feb. 11, 1956 at Holy Cross Church, Mendota. He preceded her in death in 2015.

Survivors include six children, Teresa (Kiedock) Frawley-Kim of Biggs, Calif., Paula Pinter-Henkel of West Brooklyn, Dr. Cynthia Daley of Orville, Calif., Beth (John) Donahue of Huntington Beach, Calif., Brian (Melissa) Sondgeroth of Summerlin, Nev. and Benjamin (Dr. Bethany) Sondgeroth of Sublette; and two sisters, Luella Shackelford and Adella Timm, both of Mendota.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Corrine Fetzer; one grandson, Nathan Henkel; and two sons-in-law, Dean Henkel and Ross Pinter.

After her marriage, the couple moved from Arlington to a farm on Old Chicago Road in Sublette. Together their dream for “The Sondgeroth Beef Farm” began. They worked side by side for 55 years farming grain and livestock, making their dream a reality. In addition to working with Gene on the farm, Norma was an avid quilter and gardener. The couple raised six children together and were very active in their community as 4-H leaders (Sublette Indians), members of the Lee County Cattleman’s Association, and faithful members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sublette. Norma spent the last 18 months of her life enjoying the California sunshine and growing flowers and vegetables in her garden.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to PADS in Peru, the Sublette Indians 4-H Club of Sublette, Holy Cross Church in Mendota or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be left at schwarzfuneral.com and cards may be sent to the family in c/o Schwarz Funeral Home, 907 Jefferson St., Mendota, IL 61342.
