PERU - The next Illinois Valley Community Hospital Healthy Heart cardiac risk factor screening is scheduled for 6-10 a.m. on Friday, April 13 at the IVCH Center for Physical Rehabilitation and Aquatics, 310 Walnut St. in Peru, next to the Illinois Valley YMCA.
Offered twice a year by IVCH, a Healthy Heart checkup gives participants a complete lipid profile (including the ratio between HDL and LDL cholesterol) along with measurements of blood sugar, blood pressure, triglycerides and weight.
After receiving the screening results, each participant is offered an opportunity to talk with an IVCH nurse about their significance in the development of heart disease and diabetes. A copy of the results is also sent to each participant’s personal physician.
The fee for a Healthy Heart checkup is $30. Pre-registration is required by calling IVCH at (815) 780-4642.
