MENDOTA – The city of Mendota welcomed a new firefighter and handled several other items of business at the first Mendota City Council meeting of 2020 on Jan. 6.
Under alderman Kyle Kim’s business, Dalton Huftel was sworn in as a new full-time firefighter with the Mendota Fire Department. Bill Kobilsek of the Mendota Police & Fire Commission delivered the oath of office.
In action from alderman John Holland’s report, the council approved a three-year extension with Lauterbach & Amen for the city’s annual audit.
Holland added that budget meetings for the upcoming new fiscal year will begin in February.
During alderman Jim Fitzpatrick’s report, the council approved a request from organizers at Holy Cross School to hold the school’s annual Shamrock 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, March 14. The run will necessitate closing certain streets in Mendota for a short period of time.
The next regular meeting of the Mendota City Council will be Monday, Jan. 20 at 6:30 p.m.
