LaMOILLE – The LaMoille Fire Department will be moving into a new home this fall. A new fire department building is under construction across the street from the current fire station. Fire chief Brent Becker said he is hopeful that the building will be ready for occupancy sometime in October.
The new building measures 72x90 feet. There will be doors on both ends of the building so the trucks will be able to enter and exit from both ways. Becker said this will allow the trucks to exit the building faster when they are responding to a call.
The building will house both the fire department and the ambulance service. Becker said they run 110-120 calls per year between the fire department and ambulance service.
The current fire station was built in the early 1950s. Becker said they have outgrown that building by the size and quantity of their equipment.
