New books for the classroom

Posted

Vicki Gehm’s fifth grade students unbox $500 worth of new books for their classroom, April 21. The special delivery was made possible through a grant awarded to the Northbrook teacher. Gehm was one of six recipients across the county to receive the grant from Books Build Brains. Books Build Brains is dedicated to continuing the legacy of Melissa Vosburg. Vosburg was a life-long educator and proponent of student literacy before passing away from brain cancer. After learning she was awarded the grant, Gehm included her students in choosing the new selections. “It was exciting to be able to research and order $500 worth of new and enticing books. We greatly thank the Vosburg family for making this grant possible,” said Gehm. More information on Melissa Vosburg can be found online at https://melissavosburg.org/ or Books Build Brains on Facebook. (Reporter photo by Jennifer Sommer)
