PERU – Northwest Central IL Works will sponsor several community forums during which the results of a recently commissioned community audit and underemployed survey will be presented. The forums will take place in Peru, Dixon and Freeport.
The purpose of this study is to provide an overall picture of the structure and composition of the eight-county economy including the region’s assets and opportunities, as well as the educational, economic and workforce issues that need to be addressed to assure the region’s continued growth. Findings from the community audit and an accompanying Underemployed Survey were combined into a comprehensive State of the Workforce Report.
The next step is to present the key points, implications, challenges and issues identified in the report during a series of public forums. All presentations will cover findings of the eight-county area as a whole and then focus on specifics related to the counties located in the geographic area of the forum site. The public is invited to attend any or all of these presentations. Copies of the report will be distributed at each event.
This report was commissioned by BEST, Inc. and conducted by Thomas P. Miller and Associates. A discussion of the findings and implications will follow the presentation of the full report.
