Nancy grew up in Mendota where she attended school, graduating from Mendota High School in 1948. She attended Northern Illinois University where she earned a teaching degree and met Benton Packer. After they married, the couple moved to Coon Rapids, Minn. in 1962, where they lived for a few years before moving to Palo Alto, Calif. all while raising “Their 3 Sons” – Perry, Timothy and Joel. Ben died unexpectedly of a heart attack in 1972 at the age of 42. Nancy was a single mom, while teaching 1st grade at Eisenhower Elementary School in Coon Rapids until her retirement in 1980.
