MENDOTA - John and Sandy Butler are a duet who will be bringing their musical talents to First United Methodist Church of Mendota on February 25th 2018. There will be two opportunities for you to hear their music and personal testimony. They will be presenting at both the 9:00 AM and the 10:30 AM worship services.
Taking a leap of faith in 2011, John and Sandy Butler began their ministry of sharing music and testimony. They are a mainly acappella duet who enjoy sharing their music and offering their testimony concerning how God has worked in their lives.
John is a recovering alcoholic and as of June 17, 2017 has forty-five years of sobriety. John and Sandy have been blessed with 22 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. They are members of the 1st United Methodist Church of Forreston, Illinois. They are both members in their church choir as well as members of a singing group called “Set Free Singers”.
They are both members of the Northern Illinois Emmaus community and have served on team retreats many times. John and Sandy are both Certified Lay Servants for the Rockford and DeKalb, Illinois districts of the United Methodist Church. They have sung and given testimony in 15 different states. It is their hope to be an example, as small as it may be, of Christ’s love for this world.
