MENDOTA – Mendota Museum and Historical Society will host a Coca-Cola “Coketail” party and throwback to the Kanteen days at the Hume-Carnegie Museum, 901 Washington St., on May 7 from 2-4 p.m.
“Coketail” parties were often held at someone’s home before prom, a spin-off of their parents’ cocktail parties, while the Kanteen was the place to be from 1943-1976 for area high school youth.
The “Now That’s Entertainment – Mendota Style” event will feature displays on Puritan Park, Kakusha Dance Pavilion, a miniature golf course, circuses, and the Kanteen. Visitors will have the opportunity to write down their memories of fun times in Mendota, as well.
Snacks and ice cold Coca-Cola will be served.
A free will donation will be accepted. For more information, call the museum at (815) 539-3373.
