MENDOTA - Mildred “Millie” E. Stamberger, 96, of Mendota passed away Feb. 8, 2019 at the Mendota Lutheran Home.
Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13 with a service at 11 a.m., all at the Schwarz Funeral Home. Rev. Susan Presley will officiate. Burial will follow at Restland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dave, Ed, Harold and Tom Olsen, and Charlie and Mike Smith.
Millie was born Aug. 10, 1922 in Nachusa to Edward and Rose (Nickel) Olsen. She married Wayne Stamberger, Sr. on Nov. 28, 1945 at Clarion Evangelical Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2009.
Survivors include son, Wayne (Kathi) Stamberger, Jr. of LaMoille; three grandchildren, Brian (Amanda) Stamberger and Jason (Shelly) Stamberger, both of Mendota and Tracy Wright of Princeton; and seven great-grandchildren, Blake, Trent, Dominik, Ashtyn, Harper, Gavin and Jaxon Stamberger.
She was preceded in death by her husband, four sisters and three brothers.
Millie attended Mendota High School. During her work career, she was in the shop of Heico until her retirement in 1984. During the summer, she enjoyed visiting at the Mendota Farmers Market where she sold her delicious beer mustard.
