PERU - Although midwives are best known for delivering babies, they are also qualified to provide other healthcare services throughout a woman’s life.
The role midwives can play in providing health care to women apart from assisting them with childbirth will be highlighted when four Illinois Valley Community Hospital certified nurse midwives present a free public program from 4-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 26 in the IVCH room at Peru Mall.
The event, titled “Midwives: Women Caring for Women” will include talks about birth control at 4:30 p.m., prenatal care and delivery at 5 p.m., postpartum care at 5:30 p.m. and menopause and perimenopause at 6 p.m.
Appetizers and desserts will be served. Attendees can go to the sessions of most interest to them without having to stay the entire time.
To pre-register for the program online, go to ivch.org or call (815) 780-4642.
Midwives who work at the Women’s Health Care Center at IVCH include Dana Hoffman, CNM; Barb Tieman, CNM; Brittany Lange, CNM; and Jacqueline Ma, CNM.
