STREATOR - Michael “Mike” Walzer, 76, of Chandler, Ariz., formerly of Streator, passed away peacefully on Sept. 2, 2021.
Cremation rites have been accorded and burial will be held at a later date at St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Streator.
Mike was born June 12, 2945.
Survivors include two daughters, Lori (Robin) Walzer and Gina (Grayson) Billings, both of Arizona; two grandsons, Devin Pletsch of Ohio and Joseph Kieffer of Arizona; two brothers, Norman (Donna) Walzer of Dekalb and John (Patricia) Mushinsky of Louisiana; one sister, Linda Tutko of Streator; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sandy Sangston and their son, Troy of Streator; and several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Victoria; and three sisters, Sandra, Verna and Barbara.
Mike graduated from St. Bede Academy in 1963. He was drafted in the U.S. Army and served at Fort Ord in Monterey, Calif. from 1965-1967. He returned to Illinois and worked at First National Bank in Peru and the U.S. Post Office in Ottawa. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Streator. He was an avid White Sox, Bears and Notre Dame fan and enjoyed dancing (Boot-kickers Dance Club), casino visits, reading and road trips. His family will treasure the memories of epic card games and great food.
Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
