ROCHELLE - Michael L. Mahaffey, 64, of Rochelle died Oct. 23, 2018 at Serenity Hospice, Oregon.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 26 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Rev. Kim Lee-Brown officiating. Burial will take place at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25 at the funeral home.
Michael was born July 14, 1954 in Mendota to John and Cora (Kerchner) Mahaffey.
Survivors include one daughter, Jessica (Jeff) Mahaffey; three step-daughters, Heather (Jayson) Newlin, Candace (Jason) Hill and LaShawn Meltzer; one brother, Ronald (Laura) Mahaffey; one grandson, Jacob Lynch; seven step-granddaughters; two step-great-grandsons; and one sister, Denise (Howard) Cromwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Micah; and one brother, Tom.
Michael graduated from Mendota High School in 1972 and then graduated from Kishwaukee College with a degree in landscape design. He was self-employed as a landscape design contractor.
