PANGAINAN, Philippines – Michael James Griswold, 66, of Pangainan, Philippines, formerly of Mendota, passed away peacefully at his home on April 28, 2023, with his special friend, Lhen, by his side.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at the front shelter of Lake Mendota. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be private.

Mike was born June 7, 1956, to Arthur and Betty Griswold in St. Charles. He was a 1974 graduate of Mendota High School. He then joined the United States Navy following his father and older brother Kirk’s military path.

Mike is survived by his daughter, Brittney (Keith) Griswold-Nelson of Rochelle; granddaughters Alex, Ella, Hattie and Taylor of Rochelle; brothers Jeff (Andrea) Griswold Sr. of Mendota, Brad (Debbie) Griswold of Fallbrook, Calif.; special cousin Nia Bagley of Arlington, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Angelo; his parents; brother Kirk; and sister Lori Ann.
