Ten Mendota High School music students are selected to various All-State ensembles. Students were selected, regardless of school size, based on an audition held last fall. Only 2 percent of the students who audition across the state are selected for this honor. The IMEC (Illinois Music Education Conference) was held in Peoria this past January. The students met with other Illinois selectees over three days of rehearsals with renowned guest conductors. A final concert was given at the end of the conference. Earning the distinction, left to right, are Natalie Landgraf, Honors Chorus, alto 1; Annah Scholl, All-State Chorus, soprano 1; Payton Klatt, All-State Chorus, soprano 2; Jenna Stanford, All-State Chorus, alto 2; Jessie Dooley, All-State Orchestra, bassoon; back row, Melissa Wohrley, Honors Band, trumpet; Jacob Stohr, All-State Chorus, bass 1; Erik Grenter, Honors Chorus, bass 2; Tony Escatel, Honors Chorus, tenor 2; and Samantha Masini, Honors Chorus, alto 1. “We are very proud of these students. What an awesome representation of Mendota High School,” stated Lori Schrock, MHS choir director. (Reporter photo by Jennifer Sommer)
