MHS trackmen place 2nd in Amboy meet

AMBOY – The Mendota boys’ track team finished in second place in the team standings of a six-team meet at Amboy on May 1.

The Trojans scored 63 points to finish behind champion Amboy-LaMoille, which had 134 points. Also competing were Milledgeville (62), Earlville (27), Ashton-Franklin Center (26) and Hinckley-Big Rock (4).

Mendota had four first-place finishes. Taking individual top honors were Eddy Sandoval in the 200-meter dash (24.34) and the 400-meter dash (54.49), and Eli Otterbach in the high jump (5-8). Also finishing first was the 4x100-meter relay team in a time of 46.88. Competitors were Otterbach, Ethan Ruiz, Sandoval and Cole Stremlau.

Mendota 3rd place: Jonathan Patino, 800m run, 2:20.43; Evan Stielow, shot put, 39-7; Mumm, discus, 116-9

Mendota 5th place: Ruiz, 400m dash, 1:02.07
