PLANO – Mendota’s boys’ track team closed out its season in the Plano Class 2A Sectional on May 15.
The Trojans did not place in the top six in any events, thus did not score any team points. New Lenox-Providence Catholic captured the team title with 72 points, followed by Plano (63) and LaSalle-Peru (53). Princeton tied Sandwich and Tinley Park for fourth place, each with 44 points.
Mendota’s best finishes were by its relay teams. The 4x100 and the 4x800 relays each took 11th place, while the 4x200 finished in 12th place.
Running in the 4x100 were Chris Sandoval, Josue Arteaga, Emiliano Arteaga and Jae’Shaun Hughes. The 4x200 included Sandoval, Emiliano Arteaga, Hughes and Cole Stremlau. The 4x400 relay was comprised of Josue Arteaga, Damien Magallanes, Hughes and Stremlau.
