MHS track teams go indoors for openers

BYRON – Mendota’s girls’ and boys’ track teams competed for the first time this season in the Byron Indoor First Chance Meet on March 7.

In the girls’ competition, Mendota finished first in two events. Teghan Tillman claimed the long jump title with a leap of 14-2, while Lydia Willis was the top thrower in the shot put with a distance of 37-2.

For the boys, Mendota’s best efforts were a pair of second-place finishes. Eddy Sandoval was runner-up in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.18, while Jose Sandoval took second in the 3200-meter run in 12:53.23.

No team scores were kept.
