MHS soccer team improves to 11-0-1

The Mendota varsity soccer team disposed of Kewanee, 5-0, on Sept. 6 at Kewanee.

Johan Cortez and Isaac Diaz slammed home two goals apiece to pace the Trojans, while Cesar Casas also drilled one between the pipes.

Picking up assists were Diaz, David Casas and Ramiro Palacios.

Mendota played two games in the Body Armour Series in Schaumburg on Sept. 9 and won them both.

The Trojans opened with a 3-0 triumph over Geneseo. Cortez, Diaz and Bryan Herrera had Mendota goals, while Kaleb Kleckner and Mauricio Martinez each had an assist.

In the second game, Mendota defeated Rockton Hononegah, 1-0. Cortez tallied the game-winning goal with six minutes left in the contest.

With the two wins, the Trojans improved their record to 11-0-1.
