MENDOTA – The Rhythm Express show choir from Mendota High School will present a concert on Friday, May 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the MHS auditorium. Also featured in the concert will be the 36 junior rhythm express campers who have learned a mini show this week.
Tickets are available at Sports N Stuff, downtown Mendota. All seats are reserved and cost $5. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
The high school show choir will be performing popular music that reflects the angst in our modern times. The lyrics speak of confusion, civil upheaval, divisiveness, poverty, and hope for peaceful solutions. A unique and gripping slide show done by Jason Artman’s Civics class will also be featured during the show.
A pay-it forward project is being held in conjunction with this year’s show. Please bring plastic shopping bags to the concert to be donated to the Bag Lady Project in which the bags will be knitted into plastic mats and blankets for the homeless.
The Rhythm Express members include Taylor Griffith, Anna Heiden, Payton Klatt, Brooke Lee, Amy Lewis, Samantha Masini, Annah Scholl, Abbie Wheeler, Katherine Wohrley, Melissa Wohrley, Kole Buckley, Patrick Foley, Fabian Gomez, Erik Grenter, Dylan Saylor, Jacob Stohr, and Dekin Walter. Stage Managers are Bobby Arteaga, Gabrielle Brown and Dasie Newkirk. Choreographer for The Rhythm Express is Shannon Argubright, owner and operator of The Dance Center in LaSalle.
