MHS harriers run final race on home course

MENDOTA – Cross country teams from Dixon, Streator, Hall, Marquette and Oregon joined Mendota High School harriers for the final home meet of the season at Lake Mendota on Oct. 4.

Nicquelette Fazekas of Dixon dominated the girls’ race, covering the 3-mile course in a time of 19:04, ahead of her teammate Paige Stees (19:31) and Streator’s Becca Neaterour (3rd, 19:52).

Mendota finishes included Gabrielle Brown (26:09, 28th), Bonnie Hall (26:36, 29th) and Piper Artman (26:41, 30th)

Dixon’s girls tallied 19 points for the win, while Oregon (70) edged Streator (71). Marquette had 90 and Hall earned 98, while Mendota did not record a team score.

In the boys’ race, Dixon runners Christian Seagren (16:25) and Jonah Fulton (16:30) finished one-two, with Oregon’s Ian Hussung taking third in 16:34.

Racing for the Trojans were Rigo Hermosillo (20:42, 40th) and Ty Connelly (21:47, 44th)

Dixon won the top team honors with 26 points, followed by Hall (64), Streator (73), Oregon (98), and Marquette (100). Mendota did not contribute a team score.
