MENDOTA – Mendota High School cross country runners hosted teams from Dixon, Oregon, Streator, and DePue for a race on its home course at Lake Mendota on Oct. 6.
The Dixon girls posted a perfect score of 15 points, led by top placing Katie Schaeffer, with a time of 23:30 on the 2.96-mile course.
The boys’ race was won by Streator’s Kody Danko with a time of 17:26. He was followed by Mendota’s top four runners: Anthony Kelson (2nd, 18:12), Alex Hermosillo (3rd, 18:25), Dagen Setchell (4th, 19:01) and Andrew Stamberger (5th, 19:06). Travis Mumm’s 17th-place finish of 23:56, helped the Trojans to a team win on the boys’ side. Mendota’s 26 points were followed by Streator with 38 and Oregon with 56.
