LOCKPORT – One Mendota Trojan bowler was able to extend his season after the team competed in the Lockport Regional Bowling Tournament on Jan. 13.
Sophomore Luke Ross was among the top 10 bowlers not on a qualifying team, thus he earned a trip to the sectional round. Ross had a six-game round of 1211, which was good enough for 23rd place overall. Teammate Beau Wixom scored an 1186 and missed advancing to the sectional by 11 pins.
The overall individual champion was Austin Griffith of Plainfield South with a 1443.
The top four teams also move on to the next round and they are Lockport (6531), Oswego East (6289), Plainfield North (6208) and Plainfield Central (6205). The Trojans were eighth in the standings out of 12 teams with a 5760.
The sectional will be hosted by New Lenox (Lincoln-Way Central) on Saturday, Jan. 20 at Laraway Lanes in New Lenox.
