MENDOTA – After dropping from Class 3A to 2A for the 2017-18 school year, Mendota is back in Class 3A in boys’ and girls’ basketball for the 2018-19 school year.
The Illinois High School Association released its enrollments and classifications for the upcoming school year, and Mendota’s enrollment is 555. The enrollment range for Class 3A is 546 to 1353, putting Mendota over by just nine students.
There are only four schools with smaller enrollments than Mendota in Class 3A – Chicago (DuSable) at 552, Chicago (Acero/Soto) at 551, Benton at 547 and the smallest, Tolono (Unity) at 546. Chicago (Rickover Naval Academy) is at 555, the same as Mendota. The largest school in Class 3A is Grayslake (Central) at 1353.
Volleyball remains in Class 3A at MHS, with the enrollment range being 527-1335, while baseball and softball are again in Class 2A. That range is 279-564, making Mendota one of the largest schools in Class 2A.
All other sports at Mendota also remain the same classification as in 2017-18.
