MENDOTA – The Mendota High School Concert Band will present the 60th Annual Symphony Band Concert on Sunday, Feb. 17, at 2:30 p.m. in the Mendota High School Auditorium. Admission is free and the concert is open to the public.
Musical selections include the exciting “Overture for Winds” by Charles Carter, and “American Riversongs” by Pierre LaPlante. This year’s concert will also feature a professional Brass Quintet, which will perform several pieces, including a Dixieland tune entitled “That’s a Plenty,” which will be accompanied by the Concert Band.
Members of the Brass Quintet include four Mendota High School alumni: Gregg Archer, trumpet (’86); Milt Olson, trumpet (‘64), Mark Truckenbrod, tuba (‘84), and James Younger, trombone (‘92). Rounding out the quintet is Megan Olson, former Mendota elementary music teacher, who currently teaches band and choir at Logan Junior High in Princeton.
