Program set for Nov. 11 in Veterans Park

MENDOTA – The Mendota Veterans Day program will be held on Sunday, Nov. 11 at Veterans Park in downtown Mendota. The Mendota High School Band and Alumni will provide music beginning at 10:45 a.m. and the program will begin promptly at 11 a.m.

The Mendota VFW Post #4079 Veterans Memorial Council, its Auxiliary and Mendota American Legion Post #540 will participate in the program.

The Veterans organizations welcome everyone to this service. Its purpose is to honor and remember all Veterans, both alive and deceased, for their commitment and contribution to our present way of life, and the benefits of liberty and freedom on both domestic and foreign soil.

The program schedule is as follows:

  • Introductions by Bill Hunt, Mendota City Council and U.S. Navy Veteran
  • Presentation of colors: Mendota VFW Post #4079 Veterans Memorial Squad and Mendota American Legion Post #540
  • National Anthem: Mendota High School Band and Alumni
  • Pledge of Allegiance: Audience
  • Invocation: Jay Miller, associate pastor, Victory Baptist Church, Mendota
  • Musical selection: Mendota High School Band and Alumni
  • Veterans Day address: Harold Olsen, U.S. Army Veteran
  • Firing of volley: Mendota VFW Post #4079 Veterans Memorial Squad
  • Taps: Mendota VFW Post #4079 Veterans Memorial Squad
  • Benediction: Associate pastor Miller
