MENDOTA – Brian Basil likes corn dogs. Mendota Lions Club corn dogs. He deserves a few.

Basil and several helpers that he and some others contacted, recently tore an old roof off the Mendota Lions Club den, replacing it with new roofing materials. The asphalt shingles were donated by a local supplier.  The volunteer effort resulted in a much-needed new roof for the local Lions Club.  Despite some very intense summer heat, the project was completed within a week.

When asked about his donation of time and equipment use to the Mendota Lions Club, Basil responded, “I want to give something back to this local club.  When I was in high school, the Lions Club sponsored me at Illinois Boys State. I really appreciated that opportunity, especially as I look back.”

Lions Club President Catherine Wasmer expressed the Club’s gratitude, and commented, “This donation enables us to give more back to the community in serving our basic purpose to assist sight-impaired, hearing-impaired, and local youth.”

The Mendota Lions Club is known for its service to the local community, and of course those delicious corn dogs. Brian Basil’s service to the Lions Club is just as delightful.
