On April 26-28, forty Mendota Area JFK Dancers competed at Just For Kix Nationals in Rochester, Minn. at the Mayo Civic Center.

The event featured over 1,084 performances, with dancers traveling from Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Illinois and Colorado.

On Friday of competition, the Mendota Senior Hip Hop team competed in the Hip Hop Showcase Finals for the first time in program history coming in 5th place. “This was a huge accomplishment for this team of eight. Friday was a fourteen-hour competition day for them, and they knew they could potentially compete six times throughout the day. This was our first year entering Mendota in the Hip Hop Showcase, and to make it into finals was awesome. The girls competed their routine a third time in finals and came out in 5th place out of 14 teams. The level of competition has grown immensely at Nationals, only in its second year, and our girls continue to push themselves all year to compete against large programs and hold their own,” said Rachel Moore, Mendota Just For Kix director.

Mendota Just For Kix also took home Nationals placements in the following: Mini Kick 4th Grade - 4th Place, Mini Hip Hop 4th Grade - 5th place, Mini Hip Hop 5th Grade - 3rd Place, Mini Jazz - 2nd Place, and Mini Lyrical - 2nd Place.

Mendota Just For Kix Dance has finished its 13th season in Mendota and is directed by Rachel Moore. Instructors are Taylor Bullard, Cecillia Stover, and Maren Wise. Mendota JFK Dance offers classes for boys and girls ages 3-18 in Kick, Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop. Registration for the 2019-2020 season opens May 10.
