Mendota H.S. announces 2019 Homecoming Week activities

MENDOTA - Mendota High School will celebrate Homecoming week Sept. 30-Oct. 5. This year’s theme is “Hollywood/Movie.”

The schedule of daily activities and dress-up themes follows. 

Monday, Sept. 30: Class Color Day (freshman-green, sophomores-black, juniors-blue, seniors-red)

* Homecoming assembly in the stadium following Period 7. Royalty will be announced and fun games will be played. School will dismiss after the assembly at 2:30 p.m.

* Boys home Junior Varsity soccer vs. Plano at 4:30 p.m. and Varsity at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 1: Space Day - come as an alien from space or an astronaut

* Boys home Varsity golf at 4 p.m. & Home Girls home Varsity tennis at 4:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 2: Country/Western Day

* Boys Junior Varsity home soccer at 4:30 p.m. and Varsity at 6 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 3: Theme Day - come in your favorite movie or TV show character or as a celebrity.

* Girls Varsity home tennis 4:30 p.m. and Girls home volleyball, freshman and sophomore 5 p.m. and varsity at 6 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 4: Purple and Gold Spirit Day

* 1:25 p.m. Pep assembly in the gym. School will be dismissed after the assembly.

* 3:05 p.m. Buses depart at regular time. Two buses will depart from the back of the building and take students downtown for the parade.

* 4 p.m. Parade downtown - the parade starts at Sullivan’s, travels south on Wisconsin, east on Washington Street, north on Illinois Avenue, west on Monroe Street, then north on Wisconsin back to Sullivan’s.

* 7 p.m. Varsity football game vs. Byron High School

Saturday, Oct. 5:

* 8 a.m. Freshman volleyball tournament at MHS

* 10 a.m. Boys JV varsity soccer vs. Indian Creek

* 11 a.m. Boys varsity soccer vs. Indian Creek

* 7–10 p.m. Homecoming dance in the gym with entertainment provided by DJ Freddy.
